So it already feels like the log jam that was my mind has started to move a bit. I had been working on a Sci-Fi romance/space opera and have stalled halfway through. I haven’t been able to pick it up again, but I have started to have the urge to work on something else.
Without going into details, the story is going to involve a lot of research. And I’m afraid the actual story might be beyond my skill level. But that’s how you grow as a writer, I suppose. And I’m pretty excited about the potential the story might have. And it’s YA, which I still love writing.
I think my problem with the sci-fi story was that I plotted/outlined it to death. I’m going to try pantsing this one and see how it goes. I’ll probably have to do an outline eventually, but I do have images and scenes already formed in my head, so I might get pretty far before I have to worry about it. I think I’m going to take the week to try and get some research done. But after that, it’ll be time to dive in. I’m excited.
