So I’ve decided to jump on the Nano bandwagon this year. I’ve skipped the last couple since I’ve had editing to finish, but I had a fun new idea that’s dying to get out, and this seems like a good way to get it hammered out quickly. I have a few projects waiting in the wings that need to be finished, but they can wait 30 days (at least that’s what I’m telling them!)
I’ve plotted out the story, did some characterization on the FMC, and am feeling pretty good about the whole thing. It’s my first attempt at Sci-Fi, but considering my fanatic love for all things Battlestar Gallactica and Dr. Who, I think I’ll be ok. Now that I think about it…this story is rather like Dr. Who meets Space Ninjas on BSG. Hah!
I think I must be rather crazy to attempt this though – November is a horrible month at work – we have two weeks of open enrollment, special employment forums, merger updates, and week long meetings. By the time I get home my brain is going to be a mass of jelly. But…I only need to do 1700 words to hit my goal. And most days I can churn that out in an hour or so. I think I can do this.
I’ve signed up on the Nano website if anyone wants to add me as a friend. We can cheer each other on 🙂 By the end of the month I’m going to need all the cheering I can get!
