I Have A Problem

I am going through a total boot obsession right now. It must be something to do with it being fall and the weather getting cooler. I’ve pulled out my fuzzy sweaters and my heavier jacket, I’ve put away my sandals. And now all I want are BOOTS! Cute boots, heavy boots, dress boots, shoe boots. You name it, I’ve been looking at it.

Unfortunately, my budget is not unlimited and I will need to be fairly picky with what I actually buy.

These are the boots of my heart. If I had unlimited funds, I would order them in a heartbeat (except they recently sold out. Probably a good thing). They are Fluevog boots, Inge style. And hold your breath…they cost $425! Maybe when I get that fat royalty check or advance some day 🙂

These are kind of similar, and seem like they’d be an ok replacement. Not nearly as expensive, but I still have a hard time spending $109 for shoes! (I know, a lot of people don’t even think about it!)

I’m really loving the vintage vibe of these boots, but again, at $119, I’m not sure if I want to spend quite that much. However…they’re getting good reviews, and I’m willing to spend more if I know a shoe is actually comfortable. It means I’ll actually wear it!

How about these? Cute, right?

The other option are these cute boots from DSW. Definitely within my price range at $45, and a pretty decent runner up.

There are also a half dozen other options I could choose. And now the problem comes in…I want them ALL!!! And I am the most indecisive person alive.

How will I choose?!

  1. Think about which ones you'd wear the most. The first pair are cute, but the shaft looks like that uncomfortable length between ankle and tall, like cowboy boots. Tucking jeans or leggings into them might make you look stumpy if you're now that tall, but would look cute with summery dresses paired with dark tights.

Cropped ankle booties seem to be popular right now, and I love them, but you can't wear them with absolutely everything, especially if you have short legs. But a few pairs of cute tights will definitely help you wear them through fall. I have a brown pair with a platform in the bottom, which makes me super tall, and the platform provides more support and cushioning than I thought (Seychelles Fiddle).

I wonder if you could find the Anne Kleins cheaper at 6pm or somewhere other than Zappos.

Don't forget that you can still get a lot of use out of your sandals before the weather gets too bad with tights and socks. Check out the Urban Outfitters look book to see how they're rocking tights and sandals this season.

If I could buy two pairs of boots right now, I'd get a pair of tall shaft brown flats (so versatile), and a pair of black ankle boots with a heel. Not sure if I want to get a pair of lace-up boots, not sure how long the trend will last.

Okay, I'll quit now, but good luck with your boot quest!

  2. The first ones are amazing. I'm not saying blow four hundred bucks on them; I'm just saying that you have good taste.

  3. LOL! Thanks for the comments, Tere! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves shoes!

I definitley have to worry about not looking stumpy, I'm not exactly model height. But, then again I don't wear a lot of skirts, and most of my boots are hidden under my pants. (I'm so not skinny enough to pull off the legging look!)

I will so have to check out Urban Outfitters, too! I love my sandals and always hate putting them away at the end of summer!

  4. LOL – I'd so love to blow $400 on them – MP 🙂 But thank you for the vote of confidence! I'm glad you like them!

  5. Glad I could help! As you can probably tell, I have a little, er… problem when it comes to shoes. 😉

  6. I like boots number 1 & 2. *sigh* they make me sad tho because I can't wear heeled boots anymore–they screw up my back. Guess I'm getting too old and brittle for pretty boots….sniffle

  7. LOL – I have the same problem, Angela! I tried on a pair of 3 inch heeled boots the other day and felt like I was going to fall over! Needless to say I didn't buy them 🙂

I may have to switch to flat, riding boots or something o_O
