Guilty Pleasure: Etsy

Let me get this out of the way right now. I am a shopaholic. An online shopaholic. I can track down the most hard to find items in minutes, I can get the best deals, discover unknown treasures. I can spend money like I actually have it.

And Etsy is my new crack.

I did ebay for a while. And it was wonderful. But the stress of auctions and snipers just got to me. Besides, I’m an instant gratification kind of girl. I hated having to wait a week for an auction to end before I knew if that snazzy pink scarf was really mine. So imagine my glee when I stumbled on Beyond the Pale and saw all her links to Etsy items. First off – gorgeous site and extremely interesting woman. But second – OMG look at the links! As soon as I click one, I’m lost in the random browsing that ends up eating hours I had planned to spend writing. And now, I’m making Etsy trips on my own. Spending those precious moments looking for that perfect birthday gift from my Twilight obsessed friend. Or searching for the delicate steampunk necklace that I can actually wear to work. I think this is going to be a problem.

I even fell in love with a gorgeous pair of fingerless gloves that I’ve convinced myself not to buy. I mean, who really needs a pair of fingerless gloves? Except my hands do get awfully cold in the winter when I’m typing, and my office at work is a bit chilly…and really they might be a good investment….
