2011 Goodreads Reading Challenge

I can’t remember where I first saw this, but Goodreads has a Reading Challenge every year. I usually try to keep track of the books I read, unfortunately I read really fast, and when I go through six books in a week, they tend to blur together. Goodreads has been fantastic at giving me a place to record what I’ve read and what I’ve thought about it – I love havingย  all that in one place.

So, I decided that it would be a good idea to join the challenge this year. I usually don’t have a problem reading 50+ books a year, but since I’m starting to really get into revisions and drafting this spring, I figured I should give myself a goal to make sure I keep reading a priority as well. It’s super easy – all you do is log into your GR account and join the challenge. You can specify how many books you plan to read, as well as update your reading list from here as well. There’s even a widget you can add to your blog!

Looking at my poor, pathetic list, I’m definitley motivated to get moving on my reading for the month! I still have a long way to go to hit my goal for the year!

What about you guys? Anyone else doing the Reading Challenge? What are your goals for reading for the year?

And stay tuned for tomorrow when the fantastic Sophia is going to be here to talk about Prologues!!!

  1. (argh I keep forgetting to sign in)

You read six books a WEEK?!? I’m a really slow reader but I’ve learned to speed up to fulfill all these reading challenges.

  2. I tend to go in spurts. I won’t read anything for months, and then finish off 12 library books in 3 weeks. Just depends on how much time I have (and the book ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  3. Good for you for doing the challenge! I, sadly, don’t come close to 50 books a year. ๐Ÿ™

  4. Good grief, six books a week. You must be a really speedy reader, or else you have a lot of spare time on your hands.

I didn’t know Goodreads has the challenge…I might just have to sign up!

    • LOL-I am totally a speed reader, Juliana. My family’s never been able to figure out how I get through books so quickly. Of course, it does help that I gorge on books when I have spare time too ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. 50 sounds about right. I’m going to try for that as well. Granted I’ve already read about 10 more than Goodreads thinks I have, but I imagine I can make those up…
