DIVIDE’S BLURB:

Divide e-book coverFrom senior class president to dejected social outcast, with just the flick of a match.

After accusations of torching her ex-boyfriend’s home are followed by the mysterious poisoning of her ex-best friend, seventeen-year-old Holland Briggs assumes her life is over. And it is. But not in the way she thinks.

As Holland learns the truth about her cursed fate—that she is descended from the Beast most have only ever heard of in fairytales—she unites with an unlikely ally, good-looking newcomer Mick Stevenson.

Mick knows more about Holland’s twisted history than she does, and enlightening as it is to learn about, his suggestion for a cure is unsettling at best. Holland must fall in love with Mick in order to break the spell, and save their future generations from repeating her cursed fate. Having sworn off love after the betrayals of her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, this may be difficult to accomplish.

Complicating things further for Holland and Mick, time runs out, and Holland’s change begins way before schedule. With Holland quickly morphing into a dangerous mythical creature, Mick struggles to save her.

Should they fail, Holland will be lost to the beast inside her forever.

 About Jessa
head shot 1Jessa Russo believes in fairytales, ghosts, and Jake Ryan. She insists mimosas were created for Sundays, and that’s not up for discussion. She’s obsessed with the great city of New Orleans—where she’s collected too many beads to count, eventually married her sweetheart, and visited graveyards they don’t include on maps. She’s loud, painfully honest, and passionate about living life to the fullest, because she’s seen how abruptly it can be taken away.

What began as a desire for reading and writing young adult paranormal has bled into stories of all kinds. From fantasy to pre-dystopian to erotic contemporary, Jessa’s stories always include romance, though she’s given up on pigeonholing her work into a category or genre box.

Jessa was born and raised in Southern California, and remains there to this day with her husband (a classic car fanatic), their daughter (a Tim Burton superfan), and a Great Dane who thinks he’s the same size as his Chihuahua sister.

ENTWINED, the final installment of Russo’s Ever Trilogy, will be released late 2014, as well as an erotic romance written under a pseudonym. Stay tuned!

An Update and a Shiny New Story

I’ve been feverishly working on the sequel to The Star Thief, so I haven’t been around the internet as much as I’d like, but I wanted to give a quick update on something else fun coming soon.

In between edits, I’ve been working on a spin off short story that bridges the gap between the ending of The Star Thief, and the beginning of Athena’s Ashes.

Fortune’s Risk will be a stand alone short story that you won’t *need* to read between the two, but will just provide a little fun before the darkness of the second book. Even better, it’s going to focus on two of my favorite characters – Captain Finn and Viktis the pirate as they’re on the run together. Talk about conflict!

I’m hoping to get it out early this summer, so keep an eye out! And if you sign up for my newsletter, you might just get it a little earlier than everyone else!

And just to give you a teaser, here’s the potential opening. It’s still a bit of a work in progress, so this may end up changing :)

Captain Nick Finn raised an eyebrow at the Ileth pirate lounging in the captain’s chair.  He knocked the alien’s booted feet off the railing where they were propped. “You want me to do what?”

“Help me throw a poker game.” Viktis sat up and glanced around the bridge, lowering his voice so the rest of the Athena’s crew wouldn’t hear him.

With all of the stuff I’ve been doing around the STAR THIEF release this month, it was an amazing and humbling surprise to get an email over the weekend informing me that ULTRAVIOLET CATASTROPHE had been nominated for a Best Indie Novel award at the online conference IndieReCon.

New Release: Solving for Ex by @LeighAnnKopans

I’m not sure if you guys heard, but one of my favorite books this year FINALLY released!

SOLVING FOR EX is a Young Adult romance – and OMG is it fantastic. It’s a contemporary retelling of the Jane Austen classic – Mansfield Park, but really? You don’t have to be a fan of Jane Austen or have read her books to fall in love with this one! It’s the story of Ashley Price, who wants nothing more than to start a new life after being bullied, wants to join the Mathlete’s team, and is falling in love with her best friend Brendan.

This book you guys! It seriously gave me all the feels. It’s funny, romantic, and smart. And let me tell you, I’m not a math fan to say the least, but the math in it was completely understandable and really just added depth to the story!

So, if you’re looking for a smart, funny YA about real people, this is totally your book! I HIGHLY recommend it! Actually, I think I’m going to go have to re-read it right now :)

182071051 crush on your best friend +
1 gorgeous, scheming new girl +
1 Mathletics competition =
1 big mess

SIMPLIFY.

Ashley Price doesn’t have much in life after being bullied so hard she had to leave her old school to live with her aunt and uncle in Pittsburgh. But the camera she borrowed from her best friend and secret crush Brendan, and her off the charts math abilities, make things a lot more bearable. Plus, since Brendan is the captain, making the school Mathletes team should be easy.

But when gorgeous new girl Sofia rolls in and steals Brendan, Ashley’s place on the team, and her fragile foothold on the Mansfield Park Prep social totem pole, it’s on. Sofia is everything Ashley left her old school to escape. The only thing Ashley didn’t count on is Sofia’s sexy twin brother Vincent.

Vincent is not only the hottest boy in school, he’s charming, sweet, and he’s got his eye on Ashley. He’s also not taking no for an answer. There’s no real reason Ashley shouldn’t like Vincent, but with the
battle lines being drawn between her and Sofia, Ashley’s not sure which side he’s on. Or which side she wants him to be on.

She does know Sofia is trouble with a capital T, and she’s determined to make Brendan see it.

SOLVING FOR EX is a YA contemporary romance that remixes Mansfield Park as Clueless meets Mean Girls in a crazy mix of high school society, mathletic competition, and teenage romance.
